Hope, Expectations and Quantum Theory of Reality

Now that Barak Obama has been elected President in the United States, people suddenly feel the need to reel in their hopes and diminish their expectations.

"He can't accomplish everything," they think, considering all the challenges Barak Obama faces as he takes over.

Quantum physics shows us that we create our realities as we observe or experience them, and that what you focus on is what you get. When you expect something you focus on it ... and therefore that is what you will create. So it's important to keep your expectations high, and always expect the best! Your hopes and dreams help you stay on focus, so they are essential - it's important to hold them close to your heart.

When you lower your expectations you are only trying to protect yourself from disappointment - and it doesn't work, anyway. Truthfully, won't you be disappointed if what you want doesn't happen? Of course you will - because it's not possible to truly avoid disappointment.

We succeeded in electing Barak by keeping high our hopes, dreams and expectations. Now we need to keep doing that same thing - we can see it's working! It's time to keep our expectations high - each of us with a slightly different focus, based on the issues we each care most about. It's our very expectations that will energize our focus and help us create the successful, peaceful world we've dreamed about.

I agree so completely with what you're saying Natalie. This is at the core of what you are saying in your book. I have some profound examples of my own that show the biggest thing in my life holding me back is having low hopes or low expectations. For example, several years ago I found myself in the wonderful position of being able to consider changing careers. I really hated my old career and after a lay off with a severence package I had some time to really think about what I wanted to do. The problem was that everything I really wanted to do seemed impossible for one reason or another. I finally realized that my problem was that I had lost hope and had begun having very low expectations. When I realized that, I decided to ask myself the all important question... What do I WANT, without worring about whether or not it was realistic, or likely or even possible. And, in about 3 seconds, I was able to very clearly see and articulate what I wanted. I remember thinking that it was time to start creating what I want instead of coming up with reasons why I couldn't have it. That afternoon I was in a meeting with a colleague and I told her what I had decided. Much to my surprise, offered me a job (the job!). I've since moved on to another, better job, and today I am fully into my new career. All it took was me setting my sites higher, believing it was possible, and being willing to make it happen. I love my new career, by the way!
